Keith Longbotham Obituary

Keith Longbotham entered into the gates of heaven on March 24, 2024.

Services for Keith will be Wednesday, March 27, 2024, at 11:00 a.m., at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel, 913 Elm Street in Weatherford, Texas, with Pastor Don Cass officiating. Burial will be in Snyder Cemetery under the direction of Galbreaith Pickard.

Keith was born on January 4, 1952, to Charles Noble Longbotham and Estelle Wellborn Longbotham. He grew up in Snyder, Texas until the family moved to Plainview, Texas in 1965. Keith graduated from Plainview High School in 1970 and attended Wayland Baptist College graduating in 1975 with a degree in music.

Keith was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Longbotham and Estelle Longbotham Pierce, and stepfather Dr. Robert Pierce of Snyder, Texas.

He is survived by two brothers, Charlie Longbotham Jr, and wife, Jana of Lubbock Texas, and Joe Longbotham and his wife, Karen of Dallas, Texas, and one sister, Cynthia Hill and her husband, Billy Jack of Weatherford. He is also survived by five nieces and one nephew, along with numerous cousins.

Keith began serving in ministry as Music Director at First Baptist Church, Crosbyton, Texas. He then made a move to Nashville, Tennessee in 1982 to pursue his lifelong dream of playing music. He played in Opryland Theme Park until it closed where he met great musicians that all shared a lasting friendship and the love of music.

Keith was a very talented musician who started performing and playing for many. He performed in churches, conventions, and organizations large and small. He was recognized in his hometown of Plainview with a star on the Walk of Fame at the Fair Theater. Keith played on the Grand Ole Opry three times, taking the stage with the likes of legends Roy Acuff and Porter Wagoner. His shows were always clean, Christian based with lots of humor and laughs. He could always laugh at his own jokes no matter how many times he told them and ended every show with "How Great Thou Art."

The family would like to thank Solaris Hospice and his wonderful caregivers, Sheila Myers and Ariel Williams.

The family asked that in lieu of flowers please make donations to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research.

"When I was on stage, you were like my best friends who were watching, and we were having the time of our lives." ~ Keith Longbotham
