Paul Schacht

1940 - 2025

Paul Schacht, 85, of Lockney, Texas, passed away on December 4th, 2025. John Paul was born March 3rd, 1940 to Henry and Dimon Schacht in Aiken, Texas. Paul graduated from Texas Tech with a degree in Industrial Engineering and was in ROTC. Upon graduation he worked at AT&T in Dallas and then started his commitment to the Army as a second lieutenant. After his father's death, Paul returned to the family farm where he spent most of his life farming corn, cotton, soybeans, and wheat. Paul was an active member of Cotton Incorporated, Lighthouse Electric and other boards. Paul enjoyed supporting Texas Tech athletics, traveling country wide for railroad conventions and collecting railroad antiques and memorabilia, had a soft spot for Corvettes and was very strong in his faith as a member of the First United Methodist Church. Many of these adventures were hand in hand with his wife of 20 years, Gayle.

Paul is preceded in death by his parents and much beloved wife Gayle, brother Neil Schacht and sister-in-law Tina Schacht, nephew Eric Schacht and brother-in-law Gerald McAnally.

Paul is survived by his sister Nancy Hermann and her husband Winston; nieces and nephew Karen Schacht Moore, Laura Schacht (John) Doherty, Stephanie Hermann (Earl) Onstott and Winston (Michelle) Hermann; many great nieces and nephews; brother-in-laws Dan McAnally and Devin McAnally; sons Dwight (Haley) Jackson, Jr, Wade (Terry) Jackson, and Boyd (Shanna) Jackson and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Family Visitation will be 2:00pm to 4:00pm, Sunday, December 7, 2025 at Moore-Rose Funeral Home in Lockney. Funeral services will be 10:00am, Monday, December 8, 2025 at the Lockney Methodist Church with Kyle Brock officiating. Interment will follow at the Lockney Cemetery. Arrangements are under the personal care of Moore-Rose Funeral Home of Lockney.
