Dean P. Eckholm

1941 - 2023

Dean P. Eckholm, 82, Francesville, formerly of Rensselaer, passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2023.

He was born on Sept. 19, 1941, in Rensselaer, to Gust "Bud" A. Eckholm and L. Virginia "Odle" Eckholm Tullis. Dean graduated from Fair Oaks High School with the Class of 1959. He married Marilyn J. Winslow on Nov. 26, 1966, in Rensselaer, and she survives.

Dean served in the US Army for four years. He worked as a telephone repair technician at the former United Telephone Company for 39 years.

Dean was a member of Brushwood Church. He was also a member of the IBEW Local #723.

Dean was first and foremost a very proud Swede. He loved to talk about Sweden every chance he got. He was
a colorful character who enjoyed his grandchildren more than anything and he loved his girls but would have
enjoyed sons especially when camping was concerned. His love of old cars kept him reading avidly until he
was no longer able to, but he continued to talk about them.

Dean enjoyed woodworking, traveling, sports, reading, and cycling. He was an antique car enthusiast. Dean
was an animal lover and enjoyed caring for his pets. Above all else, family time was most important to him.

He will be missed dearly.

Dean is survived by his loving wife, Marilyn; children, Christina (William) Lynch, Plainfield, Angela (Christopher Brown) Eckholm, Fishers; grandchildren, Jacob Lynch, Grayson Wittbrod, Eli Wittbrod; and siblings, Colleen Wright, Linda Lee, both of Crown Point.

Dean was preceded in death by his parents, Bud and Lois.

Friends may call upon the family at Jackson Funeral Chapel in Rensselaer on Monday, Oct. 23 from 9 – 11 a.m. CT. A Funeral Service will be held immediately following at 11a.m. CT with Pastor Mike Dillon officiating.

Interment will follow at Memory Gardens.
