Douglas Hornbeck Obituary

Douglas G. Hornbeck, 69, a resident of Rensselaer, passed away on Friday, May 5, 2023.

Doug was born in Lafayette on June 10, 1953, the son of Donald and Wilma (Swartz) Hornbeck.

Doug graduated from Rensselaer Central High School. He married Lisa Anne Brooking on June 7, 1980, in Remington, and she survives.

Doug was a Machine Specialist and Partner at Jasper Equipment from 2005 - 2023. He was a member of the VFW Post #1279 and the American Legion Post #29. He loved spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren.

Doug is survived by his wife, Lisa Hornbeck; children, Beth (Brad) Dunlap, Rensselaer, Jason (Terra) Hornbeck, Georgia, Nathan (Angela) Hornbeck, Rensselaer, Ryan Hornbeck, Rensselaer, Ashlee Hornbeck, Rensselaer; 12 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; siblings, Greg Walden, Monticello, Donya (Delmar) Jordan, Rensselaer, and David (Cheryl) Hornbeck, Rensselaer.

Doug was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Wilma.

Friends may call on the family at Jackson Funeral Chapel of Rensselaer on Saturday, May 13 from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. CT. A funeral service will be held immediately following at 1 p.m. CT.

Memorial contributions may be made to the VFW Post #1279 Auxiliary.
