Kenneth Eugene Schneidt, 101, Wolcott, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, May 17, 2025, at his daughter's home in Idaville.
Born on Jan. 13, 1924, in Goodland to the late Frank and Bertha (Goetz) Schneidt, Kenneth was a 1942 graduate of Goodland High School. He married the love of his life, Nola Warren, on Sept. 15, 1949, at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Rensselaer. Nola preceded him in death on Aug. 2, 2021.
Kenneth proudly served in the United States Coast Guard during WWII and was honorably discharged in March 1946. He was a long-time member and past commander of American Legion Post 294 of Wolcott and past adjutant of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2095. He also served on the Wolcott Park Board for several years and as Park Superintendent for three years.
Professionally, Kenneth was employed by Sears Roebuck as a Division Manager in Sterling, Ill., and later worked as an electrician for R.V. Steel Works in Round Grove. He also farmed grain and livestock from 1954 - 1989. Kenneth loved woodworking, fishing, upholstery work, and was very active in the American Legion for many years.
He is survived by his children, Teresa (Darrell – deceased) Korschot, Goodland, Gerald (Rebecca) Schneidt, Indianapolis, Catherine (Loy- deceased) McCart, Athens, Ill., Grace (Thomas - deceased) Schneidt Bush, Scottsburg, Daniel Schneidt (companion: Pam Latta), Kentland, Dale (Janet) Schneidt, Lafayette, Christine (Rodney) Herre, Rensselaer, Mary (Jay) McLaughlin, Idaville, and Loretta (Steven) Wetli, Lafayette. Kenneth also cherished his 23 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren, and three great-great- grandchildren.
Preceding him in death along with his wife and parents are siblings, Jeanette Wagner, Francis Schneidt, Irvin Schneidt, Richard Schneidt, Cletus Schneidt, Paul Schneidt, Leo Schneidt, and Sr. Irene Schneidt. Kenneth was also preceded in death by his granddaughter, Stephanie Yoder.
A visitation will be held from 1 - 5 p.m. EST with Rosary beginning at 12:45 p.m. EST Sunday, June 8 at Foster-Clapper Funeral Home of Wolcott. Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. EST Monday, June 9 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Remington. Fr. Joshua Bennett and Fr. Dan Duff to officiate.
Burial with military rites to follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery of Reynolds.
