April 6, 1944 - January 17, 2024
Conway, South Carolina - Carol Dalrymple Maben, 79, of Conway, SC, passed away peacefully Wednesday, January 17, 2024, at Grand Strand Medical Center.
Born in Jamestown, NY to the late Charlotte C. Highhouse and Harry R. Freeborough of Youngsville, PA. Carol was a graduate of Youngsville High School ('62). Recruited pre-graduation, she started her professional career in Washington DC as clerk/steno for the FAA. In 2012, she retired from the Horry County Department of Public Works after 15 years of dedicated service.
In addition to her parents, Carol is predeceased by her husband, Wilbur Maben (VA) and her life partner and soulmate, Larry Johnson (SC).
Carol is survived by her only child, Angela Robb & son-in-law, Karl (VA). Her beloved bonus family Charles & Cathy Gore (SC) and their extended family, David & Angela Johnson (FL), Gena, Benton, & Gary Karnap (TN), many dear friends at Public Works, and Carol's canine companion, Blaze.
Her passions included her devotion to God, crocheting, baking banana bread, helping animals, country living, & visiting the Mountains. She will be most remembered for her true selflessness, kindness, being faithful, and praying for many on her extensive daily prayer list.
A celebration of life gathering in memory of Carol will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Carol's memory to, The Humane Society of NMB.
