Charles A. Launi, 85, passed away Saturday, June 16, 2012 at his residence.
Born November 25, 1926 in Washington, DC, Charles was a son of the late Alfio and Lucia Sanfillipo Launi. He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict having served as a 1st Lt. in the United States Army. He received a BA from the University of Virginia and a Masters in Psychiatric Social Work from William and Mary. He spent 36 years working with and for mentally ill and emotionally disturbed children.
Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Elizabeth Moore Launi of Myrtle Beach; a son, Charles Michael Launi and wife, Mary of Westmont, IL; two daughters, Nancy Launi and partner, Jim Godsey of Myrtle Beach and Susan Launi and husband, Craig Peel of London, England; three grandchildren, Michelle Launi, Alyssa Launi and Max Peel.
A Celebration of Life memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 20, 2012 in the McMillan-Small Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. J. Kirk Lawton, Jr. officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, www.cancer.org, 950-48th Ave N, #101, Myrtle Beach, SC 29577.

Dear Betty,
Lou and I send our deepest sympathy to you and your family. We enjoyed playing bridge with the two of you while we were at Myrtle Beach. He had a wonderful sense of humor and made us, as well as all those he met, smile.
