Mrs. Debi D. James, age 59, wife of 43 years to Mr. Derrick "Button" James Sr. passed away August 6, 2013 surrounded by her family. Mrs. James was born in Conway, SC a daughter of the late Emma Jane Peavy Dyson and the late Stephen James Dyson. She was a member of Pisgah United Methodist Church for over 44 years where she worked with the youth, Samaritans Purse, Relay for Life, Sunday School Teacher, Vacation Bible School Teacher, member of the United Methodist Women's Group, and served on many more committees. With the help of her youth class, Mrs. James was responsible for the building of the Prayer Garden located in the church cemetery for all to enjoy. Mrs. James was very dedicated to her job at Aynor High School where she worked for 24 years as a Guidance Counselor Secretary. She also loved working and supporting the Aynor High School Athletic Department. Mrs. James was a very devoted, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and mother in law. Surviving in addition to her husband of the home are two sons, Derrick James Jr. and his wife Michelle, Nicholas James and his wife Renee all of Galivants Ferry, two brothers, Jimmy Dyson and his wife Esther, Sidney Dyson and his wife Gwen, two sisters, Jennie Dunn and her husband Terry, Glenda Hopson and her husband Don, two grandchildren, Nora Lynn James, Skylar Alexis Stewart and numerous loving nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 6-8 PM Thursday August 8, 2013 at Johnson Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 1:30 PM Friday at Pisgah United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jane Pearce officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Memorials can be made in Mrs. James memory to Pisgah United Methodist Church for the care of the prayer garden, 1600 Pisgah Church Road Galivants Ferry, SC 29544. To all of Debi's family, we would like to extend our sincerest sympathies to each of you. Debi was a special person, even back in high school, she was a happy person. Always with that incrediable smile and endearing personality, she made you feel like a friend. The garden she helped to make, is a wonderful place to have.
