Dorothy Tew Diorio, 90, passed away on September 21, 2015, at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem. Dorothy was born on December 27, 1924, in Harnett County, North Carolina. She was the consummate, gracious and supportive military officer's wife during the Army career of her husband, Lt. Col. Gene Diorio, living on many military installations stateside and in Germany, Korea and Tehran, Iran. Dorothy and Gene enjoyed traveling to other foreign countries and collecting old pottery was her passionate hobby. Dorothy and Gene have been residents of Bermuda Village since 2007.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 56 years, Gene Diorio of the home, her son and daughter in law, Howard and Patricia Hudson of Winston Salem, her sister, Margaret Warren of Wilmington, her grandson and wife, Charlton and Leslie Hudson, her granddaughter, Elizabeth Hudson, her granddaughter and husband, Lindsay and Patrick Murphy, her grandson, Kevin Fox, four great grandchildren, Owen, Everleigh, Elena and Victoria, and many loving, caring nieces, nephews and friends.
A memorial service to be determined will be held for Dorothy at Bermuda Village in North Carolina. Following a burial service on October 22, 2015 (11 am), at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in North Myrtle Beach, where Dorothy and Gene were members for many years, she will be interred in the Church Columbarium. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, 813 Townsend Road, North Myrtle Beach, SC 29582 or to the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice House, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103. Online condolences may be made to www.salemfh.com.
