Edo John Maggiotto
Murrells Inlet
Edo John Maggiotto, 89, died Saturday, June 04, 2011 at Waccamaw Community Hospital. Born in Nakomis, Ill., he was a son of the late Bortalo and Antoniatta Maggiotto.
Edo worked at Westinghouse Atomic Power in Pittsburgh, Pa. for 30 years as a metallurgical engineer. He was an Army veteran, serving during WW II in Europe. When moving to Murrells Inlet 20 years ago, he joined the Belin Memorial United Methodist Church and did ushering and other volunteer work.
Edo was a creative man. He loved painting and creating beauty in his garden. He adored his grandchildren. He had the privilege of experiencing great-grandchildren. He was a good neighbor and friend.
Survivors include his wife, Jean, of Murrells Inlet; daughters Marcia (Michael) Welch of Chicago, Ill., Nancy L. Folino of Murrells Inlet; grandchildren, Heather (Patrick) La Riviere, Michael (Melanie) Welch, Jr, Jennifer (Kevin) Eckard; great-grandchildren, Katherine, Elizabeth and Sofia.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 10, 2011 at the Goldfinch Funeral Home, Beach Chapel. A visitation will take place from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. prior to the service.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to the Belin Memorial United Methodist Church Pastor's Discretionary Fund, 4182 Hwy 17 Bus, Murrells Inlet, SC 29576.

I am sadddened to hear of Edo's pasing. He was a warm and caring friend and neighbor.I have many fond memories of good times spent with he and Jean. My condolences to his family and I will continue to keep Jean close in my thoughts and prayers. Love you Jean.

Words can not express our sadness on hearing of Edo's passing. He was a true friend and he and Jean were wonderful neighbors. I don't think we'll ever have better ones. Our condolences to his family and he will be remembered in our prayers. Jean, we love you.
