Ellen McConnell Obituary
Born in Newport, Rhode Island, November 28,1940, she was the wife of Thomas McConnell, originally of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where the couple resided from 1965 to 1998, 33 of their 48 years of marriage together, the last 12 of those years having been located in Surfside Beach, South Carolina.
Ellen was the daughter of Louise, age 98, and Joseph Libby, deceased. She was the mother of five, Elizabeth Ann Viergever of Atlanta, Ga., Matthew David McConnell of Knoxville, Tenn., Mark Gannon McConnell of Denver, Colo., Gregory Thomas McConnell of Jacksonville, Fla., and Ellen Courtney Salinas of Surfside Beach. A grandmother to eight, Alexander, Ryan, Sarah, Jack, Olivia, Sofia, Thomas and Elijah. A sister to Joseph Libby, Mary Corley, Loretta Joy and Thomas Libby.
A friend to many, Ellen was, as so accurately described in recent days, "a woman worthy of remembering."
Funeral service and Mass to be celebrated at St. Michael's Church, Garden City, Saturday, January 22nd, 2011 at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions are asked to be sent to the American Cancer Society and to the St. Michael's Parish Brick Campaign in the name of The Thomas McConnell Family.

To my Dad,
My thoughts and prayers are with you. It is hard to imaging what you are feeling at this time. Please remember that you are loved and thought of often. We share in the loss of your wife and our mom. She will be missed and loved always. She was an exceptional person and a wounderful mother. I could not have asked for better parents then the two of you. No Way could I ever feel the lost and pain I know you are suffering. My Pray for you is that may the love of your friends and family fill your heart as you journey down this new road.
