Francis "Frank" Dwight Oesterle, 90, died Wednesday, June 1, 2011. Born in Seatle, Wash., he was a son of the late Francis Oesterle and Evelyn L'abbe Oesterle. Mr. Oesterle was a WWII veteran where he served in the United States Marine Corps 5th Marine Division that was the 1st to land troops on Iwo Jima. He was a member of the Beach Family Worship Center and a volunteer at Conway Hospital. Survivors include three daughters, Karen Lamer of N.J., Regina Ryder of Va., Lisa Julian of Conway; two sisters, Janne Bodkin of N.C., Doris DeMasi of N.Y.; seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Memorial Services will be held 7 p.m. Monday, June 6, 2011 at Beach Family Worship Center. Pastor Dick Button officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mercy Hospice and Palliative Care, 174 Waccamaw Medical Park Rd., Conway, SC 29526. Please sign a guest book at www.goldfinchfuneralhome.com. Goldfinch Funeral Home, Beach Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.

I will miss him greatly, he had a huge infulance on my life when I was young. Eileen and Frank had the best parties, not to be missed even as a sullen teenager( coz all my cousins felt the same way). I have always thought about him. For me he is a giant in my personal history, I won't miss him because for all he gave me, he's still here.
