Gary Worden Obituary
CONWAY | Gary Worden, 61, of Conway, passed away Tuesday, October 13, 2009 in Naples, Fla. after a valiant 2 year battle with Bile Duct Cancer.
Gary was born July 2, 1948 in Binghamton, New York. He graduated from Chenango Valley High School, Ithaca College, and SUNY Cortland. He excelled in athletics, becoming an All-American Athlete in football.
He was a dedicated and highly respected educator for 34 years, and retired from his position as superintendent of the Maine-Endwell School District in 2004. Gary and his wife, Elaine, moved to Myrtle Beach in 2005 and enjoyed golfing, going to the beach, spending time with friends, and attending Coastal Carolina University sporting events. Gary loved life, and the gift of his spirit lives on in everyone he touched.
He is survived by his wife, Elaine Worden; three sons; two stepdaughters; his mother; a brother; two sisters; and several nieces and nephews.
Contributions in Gary's memory may be made to The Catholic Church of St. James, 1071 Academy Dr., Conway, SC 29526.
