Jean Ellen Maggiotto age 89, died Monday, March 2, 2015 at Myrtle Beach Estates.
Born August 7, 1925 in Chicago, Illinois, she was the daughter of the late Herman and Jenny Drenthe. Both of Jean's parents were born in the Netherlands.
Jean was raised in Chicago and graduated from Fenger High School where she met her beloved husband Edo. During high school she was inducted into the Daughters of the American Revolution. The gifts that she gave her family and the community were many. She raised her own children and welcomed all others into her home. She had an active social life and loved her bridge club meetings. Out of necessity she learned to sew and became an accomplished seamstress. Jean will always be remembered for her beautiful smile. When she and Edo moved to Murrells Inlet twenty five years ago they joined Belin Memorial United Methodist Church and became active members. She and Edo volunteered with Meals on Wheels.
Her husband preceded her in death. Survivors include daughters, Marcia (Michael) Welch of Chicago, IL, Nancy Folino of Murrells Inlet; grandchildren, Heather (Patrick) La Riviere, Michael (Melanie) Welch, Jr., Jennifer (Kevin) Eckard; great- grandchildren, Catherine, Elizabeth, Rose and Sofia.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, March 12, 2015 at Goldfinch Funeral Home, Beach Chapel. A visitation will take place from 10-11 AM prior to the service.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to the Belin Memorial United Methodist Church for the Pastor's Discretionary Fund, 4182 Hwy 17 Business Murrells Inlet, SC 29576.
