Marvin Chestnut Obituary

GALIVANTS FERRY | Marvin B. Chestnut, 81, died on Sunday, October 11, 2009 at Loris Community Hospital.

He was born in Horry County, the son of the late Alvie Chestnut and Orie Rabon Chestnut Willis. He was a retired farmer, and he always greeted his many friends with a welcoming smile.

He was predeceased by a son, Carl Chestnut; five brothers, Lacy, Jack, Henry Paul, Jessie, and Billy Willis; and one sister, Lilly Mae Gallaway.

He is survived by his wife, Agnes Johnson Chestnut; four sons, Marvin Chestnut Jr. of Galivants Ferry, Alvie (Carol) Chestnut of Conway, Glenn (Page) Chestnut of Darlington, and Roger (Laura) Chestnut of Galivants Ferry; four daughters, Dorothy, Annie, and Martha Chestnut, all of Galivants Ferry, and Jeanette (Michael) Accardo of Louisiana; one sister, Barbara Ellisor of Conway; and nine grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 4 p.m., Thursday, October 15, 2009 at Gethsemane Baptist Church in Galivants Ferry with the Rev. Bill Thompson officiating. Burial will follow in Gethsemane Baptist Church Cemetery.
