Michael Marino Obituary

Michael A. Marino

November 20, 1946 - May 19, 2024

Myrtle Beach, South Carolina - Michael A. "Mike" Marino, 77 passed away peacefully at home, Sunday, May 19, 2024.

He was born November 20, 1946, in Charlston, WV a son of the late Henry and Ethel Richardson Marino.

Michael was a charismatic entrepreneur who brought his young family from Charleston, WV to Myrtle Beach, SC to pursue a career in real estate. Michael played every role from young sales professional to seasoned mentor in every facet of the Myrtle Beach real estate market. Outside of his immediate family, Michael cherished his other family, the members and staff of the Dunes Golf and Beach Club, where he was an active member for over 30 years. He loved to travel with his wife and son Patrick to destinations all over the world. Later in life he was fortunate to travel with his two young grandchildren, Alex and Siena. Michael was a loyal and proud member of the St. Andrews Catholic Church for nearly 40 years. To his final day, Michael never met a stranger.

He is survived by Mary Sue Marino, his wife of 47 years, son Patrick, daughter in law Terra, and grandchildren Alex and Siena. Also surviving Michael is his brother Henry Marino Jr. (wife Karen), brother John Marino (wife Bronwyn), sister Mary Lou Albert (husband Mike), and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will greeted friends and family Wednesday, May 22, 2024, at McMillan-Small Funeral Home in Myrtle Beach from 5:00-7:00 PM. Following the visitation, the family will go to The Dunes Golf and Beach Club for a time of fellowship, laughter, and remembrances about Mike.

Mike and I grew up in the same neighborhood in Charleston, West Virginia. My family loved the Marino family. My parents had the community grocery store and the Marino kids made frequent visits to the store :) My parents always commented on how kind and mannerly the Marino kids were. Mike, Thank You for the good childhood memories you gave to me!

I met Mike in 1964, when he began working at Henry's In St. Albans, WV (one of his dad's men's clothing stores). We became buds, and stayed in touch whenever I got home to visit my parents. As our lives and families progressed, we lost touch, but memories of Mike have always brought a smile.

Rest easy, Mike. You made a difference.

Mike was a great guy and always available to resolve problems in the Legends. He was very helpful to me and my family when my husband was sick and died. He worked hard to resolve multiple issues with a homeowner that was causing many problems and safety concerns in the neighborhood. I know he spent many hours dealing with the situation to make things 'right' and get it resolved. Our neighborhood is a much safer place due to his tenacity. He has found his place in heaven. God rest his soul. Deepest sympathy and my condolences to his family.
