Surfside Beach, South Carolina - Pete Loy Dry passed away peacefully on July 13, 2023.
Pete was born on December 13, 1930 in Wadesboro, NC, the son of Mary Shankle Dry and Loy Ernest Dry.
Pete served two years in the Army and was graduate of Lenoir-Rhyne University. After graduation, Pete worked at Harry & Bryant Funeral Home in Charlotte, NC. It is during this time that Pete first met his loving wife of 63 years, Harriet Monroe Dry. They moved to Surfside Beach, SC in 1960, where Pete worked in the field of real estate. Pete enjoyed time spent with family and friends and was an active member of the Surfside United Methodist Church.
Pete is survived by his wife Harriet, and their two sons, Bryan Monroe Dry, and Joel Carlton Dry (Cindy) and grandchild Holden Evans Dry.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 22 at 11:00am at Surfside United Methodist Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Surfside United Methodist Church, 800 13th Ave N. Surfside Beach, SC 29575.
