Loris, South Carolina
Mr. Richard Parlett Caines, Sr., age 71, passed away Monday, August 11, 2014 at MUSC in Charleston, SC following an illness. Born on October 23, 1942 in Loris, SC, he was the son of the late Parlett Tillman Caines and the late Dessie Canada Caines. Mr. Caines served his country with courage and honor in the US Army during Vietnam. Mr. Caines worked for thirty years with the AVX Corporation and upon retiring he started Land Works Inc. specializing in construction until his second retirement. Mr. Caines was a longtime active member of Beulah Baptist Church where he served in numerous capacities throughout his life but will be most remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Causey Caines of the home; his son, Rick Caines, Jr. (Blair) of N.M.B., SC; his daughter, Amanda Richelle Caines of Seattle, WA; two grandchildren, Jillian and Jackson Caines both of N.M.B., SC; one brother, William Royce Caines (Cary) of Seneca, SC and four sisters, Flora C. Carroll (Jim) of Aiken, SC, Rachel C. Kisiah of Florence, SC, Loretta C. Peele (Charlie) of Gainesville, FL and Melba C. Payne (Sam) of Charlotte, NC.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Thursday, August 14, 2014 at Beulah Baptist Church with Rev. Joe Rogers and Rev. Thelton Powell officiating. Committal services will follow at Beulah Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, August 14, 2014 from 12:30 until 1:45 PM at Beulah Baptist Church fellowship hall prior to services.
