Richard Hemphill Tucker
Conway, S.C.
Memorial Services for Richard Hemphill Tucker, 50, of Conway will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, November 5, 2011 at the St. Paul Episcopal Church, 710 Main Street, Conway. A private burial will take place at a later date.
Mr. Tucker was born March 23, 1961 in Greenville, S.C. He was a graduate of St. Andrews School in Sewanee, Tenn., and attended the University of South Carolina and Coastal Carolina University.
He was a member of the Carolina Yacht Club and St. Cecelia Society in Charleston, S.C. He was a current board member of Duck's Unlimited and was also a member of Wild Turkey Federation. He was an avid sportsman and outdoor enthusiast.
He was a devoted member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church.
He is survived by his wife, Sherri Kay Tucker; three daughters, Melissa Christine Tucker of Conway, S.C., Helene Alexander Tucker and Charlotte Hemphill Tucker, both of Murrells Inlet, S.C.; his mother, Elizabeth Smith Tucker of Charleston, S.C.; father, Nicholson Unger Tucker (Gail) of Murrells Inlet, S.C.; one brother, Nicholson Tucker, Jr. (Karen) of Awendaw, S.C.; two sisters, Elizabeth Tucker of Florence, S.C., Courtenay Tucker of Mt. Pleasant, S.C.; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family in Johnsonville, S.C.; lifelong best friend and second father, George Klump; and Sophie, the family's Yellow Labrador.
At Richard's request, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Paul's Episcopal Church Building Fund, 710 Main Street, Conway, SC 29526.
McKiever Funeral Home is assisting the family.
