Melvin R Robinson Jr., 62, of Mt. Pleasant, SC went to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 10, 2015.
He was born on Friday, July 25, 1952 in Florence, SC to the late Miriam Robinson and Melvin R Robinson Sr.
Robby retired as a Lt. Col. in the U.S. Air Force and as a Delta Airline Pilot. He was a 1974 Citadel Graduate, Delta Company. Robby enjoyed hunting, fishing, loved plants, flowers and feeding birds. Over the years he and his family sponsored many Citadel Cadets. His family remembers him as a wonderful husband, father, friend and his greatest joy was serving God and spending time with others.
He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, J. Diane Robinson, of Mount Pleasant, SC; one son, Ryan R Robinson, of Mount Pleasant, SC; one brother, Woodrow L Robinson, of Conway, SC; brother-in-law; David W. Spell (Barbara), of Charleston, SC; sister-in-law, Sandra E. Elvis, of Moncks Corner, SC; his longtime Pug, "Winston" and many family and friends.
The visitation will be 4 until 6 pm on Friday, January 16, 2015 at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home, 1520 Rifle Range Road, Mt. Pleasant, SC, with a Celebration of Life Tribute at 6 pm. Graveside service and inurnment will be 2 pm Saturday, January 17, 2015 at Mepkin Abbey with Rev. Tom Brown and Rev. Al Sims officiating.
In lieu of flowers Memorial donations may be made in his honor to Darkness To Light, 7 Radcliffe Street, Charleston, SC 29403, The Citadel Foundation, 171 Moultrie Street, Charleston, SC 29409 or Mepkin Abbey, 1098 Mepkin Abbey Road, Moncks Corner, SC 29461.

To the Robinson Family,
I am so saddened to hear of Robby's passing. He was such a good friend during our school days in Conway, and I always respected and admired him for his great personality, quiet spirit, and kind heart. His ready smile and quiet demeanor endeared him to all of us. I left Conway in 1972, and have lived my adult life in Kentucky, only seeing Robby at one or two of our reunions. We will miss him, and will keep your family in our thoughts and prayers.

...So sorry to hear about Robby. We graduated high school together (1970). While I didn't know him really well, I remembered him to be very smart, extremely nice and a gentleman. Our classmates will miss him.
