Robert Helmick Obituary
Longs
Robert A. Helmick, 63, died Saturday, October 6, 2012 at his home.
Born on December 3, 1948 in Akron, OH, he was the son of the late Robert and Gladys V. Hamilton Helmick.
Mr. Helmick was a U.S. Army Disabled Veteran and a recipient of a Purple Heart, Combat Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and a Commendation Medal. He was an avid NASCAR fan and Ohio State football fan.
Survivors include his wife of 11 years, Wendy Warren Helmick; children, Jeremy Helmick and Heather Murdocco, both of Ohio; stepchildren, Benjamin and Courtney Temples, both of Longs; brother, Michael Helmick of Red Springs, NC; sister, Tami Bazinett (Scott) of Loganville, GA; five grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and one nephew.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 pm on Friday, October 12 in Lee Funeral Home.

It was an honor for me to have had the chance to know and to care for Mr Helmick for many years with the VA HBPC services and MBPCC. He was a Hero who gave so much to keep our country free. I am praying that this Veteran has made a peaceful journey Home where he will be forever happy and without suffering or pain. My thoughts and prayers are also with Wendy, his family, and friends.
