Mrs. Ruby L. Eve, 1003 Temple Street entered into eternal rest on Saturday, September 17, at the Regional Medical Center in Orangeburg, SC after a long illness. Born in Alcolu, SC; she is the daughter of the late Elese and Deacon Oliver Spain. Mrs. Eve was born on April 7, 1927 and spent her formative years in Alcolu, South Carolina; Durham, North Carolina and later Conway. As an adult she moved to New York City, New York, where she was employed as a licensed beautician for many years and there she wed Mr. Arthur B. Eve. Mrs. Eve is the mother of Mr. William H. Wilson (Margaret) and Dr. Gwendolyn D. Wilson (from a previous marriage) all residing in Orangeburg, South Carolina, where she spent her final days. She was a member of the Cherry Hill Missionary Baptist Church where she grew up and later re-affiliated with in her return to Conway; being active in numerous church organizations.
She was preceded her in death by her husband Mr. Arthur B. Eve and her beloved mother Elese Harvin Spain. She leaves to cherish her lasting memories: her children; three grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; a stepson, the Honorable Arthur O. (Connie) Eve; step grand and great grandchildren; a sister and a host of loving relatives and friends. Homegoing services will be held at Cherry Hill Missionary Baptist Church, Conway, SC at noon on Thursday, September 22. 2016. Burial to follow at Rosehill Cemetery.
