Walter Cushman Obituary
Surfside Beach
Walter H. Cushman, age 84, died on Tuesday, January 7, 2014 at his residence.
Born in Hoboken, NJ, Walter was a son of the late Frank and Gesine Cushman. Walter served in the US Navy during the Korean War, achieving highest rating Yeoman 2nd class. He received his Bachelors and Masters Degrees from New York University. Post graduation, Walt worked at Bank of New York for 31 years and National Securities Clearing Corp for 5 years, reaching Senior Vice President and Operations Executive within both companies. Walter and Marcelle, lived in New Jersey before officially retiring to Surfside Beach, SC in 2007. Walt was active in the Seacoast Artists Guild and was most recently Treasurer. Walter enjoyed classic movies and considered photography his primary hobby and passion.
Survivors include his sons Gary Cushman and his wife Suzanne of East Brunswick, NJ, James Cushman and his wife Catherine of Northbourough, MA; a daughter Laura Schork and her husband Bob of Monroe, NJ; ten grandchildren Matt, Rebecca(who lived with Walt), Danny, Ryan, Kelley, Tyler, Burke, Liam, Aidan and Ronan; a brother Bob Cushman and his Aunt Doris Scheland. Walter was preceded in death by his wife Marcelle, in 2013.
A memorial service will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, January 11, 2014 at Goldfinch Funeral Home, Beach Chapel. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 AM.

Words hardly seem adequate to express the sorrow we feel for the loss of Walter and Marcelle. They were true soul mates and totally devoted to one another. We had so much fun together and were grateful for the honor of being their friends. Please accept our heartfelt condolences.
