Walter Tarcza Obituary

Walter Howard Tarcza age 81, died Monday, June 7, 2010 at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center.
Born in Litchfield, NY, he was a son of the late Gustav and Flora Tarcza. He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. Mr. Tarcza was a member of the Murrells Inlet Elks Lodge, the Campbell NY American Legion and the Murrells Inlet Moose Lodge. He was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church. He served in the U.S. Army. Walter retired in 1987 from Corning Glass Works, after 35 years as a chemical engineer, with multiple patents.
Mr. Tarcza was preceded in death by brothers Stephen (Hazel), Frank (Mary), Henry (Vivian) and Fred; sisters Virginia and his twin sister Aggie (Aldo) Tobia, he was the last of the Tarcza family.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Jean Maynard Tarcza of Myrtle Beach, SC; a son, Steven and wife Joan Tarcza, of Painted Post, NY; three daughters, Anne Wheeler of Corning, NY, Joanne Maruca and husband Brian of Manteca, CA and Beth-Anne Schiller and husband Wayne of Brisbane, Australia; eight grandchildren, Steven and Kristie Tarcza, Oscar and Gary Wheeler, Josh and Katy Maruca, Heather and Tianna Schiller many nieces and nephews. Sister in laws, Bobbie Tarcza, Iona Stevens, Ruth Potts, Marion Krevey, Ellie Austin and Barb Maynard.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, June 11, 2010 at St. Michael Catholic Church with Father Ray Carlo officiating. Inurnment will follow at the church columbarium.
Family will receive friends from 7:00-8:00 PM Thursday with a prayer service at 7PM, June 10, 2010 at Goldfinch Funeral Home, Beach Chapel.
