William Ragsdale Obituary

LITTLE RIVER | Acknowledging the joyful passage of William McKoy Ragsdale, MD on Saturday, Jan. 28, 2006, to be eternally with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Born on Dec. 26, 1924, he was the son of the late Jesse Rose and Ambrose Wylie Ragsdale. He attended Davidson College, graduated The Medical University of South Carolina with a Doctorate of Medicine, Class of 1948. He trained at Charity Hospital in New Orleans; served as a M.A.S.H. Doctor in the Korean Conflict.

He established practice in Myrtle Beach in 1954 as one of the first physicians in Horry County. He served this community for over fifty years.

He was a wonderful, loving, and caring physician and friend. But, most important to him, was their spiritual healing and that they knew the Lord Jesus Christ as their own personal Savior.

He will never be forgotten and will always be remembered and loved.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Carole; his sons, the Rev. William Theodore Ragsdale and family; Joseph Wylie Ragsdale, MD and family; Skip Carrick and family, Neil Patrick Carrick and family, and Bryan Webster Carrick and son.

He was a member of Bible Fellowship Baptist Church, located at 462 Highway 57 South, Little River. A memorial service will be held at the church on Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2006 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Jack Rowan III officiating. The family will receive guests and friends for one hour prior to the service.

Yesterday

I remember as a small child visiting with your father. His mother and father were my great-aunt and great-uncle. My grandfather was Burr Augustus Ragsdale, Sr., Uncle Am's brother. They came to our home in Tallahassee, Florida and brought Isla as a special treat so she could make me her famous butterhorn rolls. I know he is missed. Nan Ragsdale Murphy

Wylie, I have always regretted the fact that I had to work and was unable to meet your Father when he came to Atlanta to see you while you were in the hospital, however, I did have the opportunity to meet your wonderful Brother and Mother, and I think of you and your family often. I will say a little prayer for you and your family during your sorrow and know that I will always keep fond memories of you in my heart forever and always.

Ted, Wylie and all, it is sad to see the passing of such a wonderful person. The care he gave to so many of us growing up here in Myrtle Beach will not be forgotten. He was a good man and now resides in that house, not made with hands.

May God comfort you in your loss.
