William Shephard Obituary

MYRTLE BEACH | William C. Shephard Sr., 69, of New Found Lane, died Saturday, December 6, 2008 following a brief illness.

Mr. Shephard was born in 1938 in Boston, Massachusetts.

Mr. Shephard retired from the United States Army after serving 12 years between service in the Korean War and four tours in Vietnam. He was a member of the 101st Airborne Green Beret Special Forces and received several Purple Hearts and the Vietnamese Bronze Star.

Mr. Shephard began his career with the United States Postal Service in Boston, Mass., as an express mail clerk and retired from the Myrtle Beach Post Office in 2005.

Mr. Shephard is survived by three sons, William C. Shephard II of Myrtle Beach, Robert Michael Flowers of Plymouth, Mass., and Billy Delbert Flowers of Andover, Mass.; one daughter, Patricia Cole of Madison, Ind.; and eight grandchildren.

Mr. Shephard was predeceased by his wife, Mary Elizabeth.

Funeral services, with full military honors, will be 11 a.m. Friday, December 12, 2008 in Goldfinch Funeral Home, Beach Chapel, officiated by the Rev. Jeff Wallace. Inurnment will be at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.

The family will receive friends from 2 until 4 p.m. and from 6 until 8 p.m. Thursday, December 11, 2008 at the funeral home.

Bill, I am truely sorry to hear about your family's loss and wish to offer my sympathy and know I am thinking of you and your family in this time of need.I can honestly say I completely understand how it feeld to be without both of your parents and the holidays is the hardest part sometimes.
