My condolences to the family of Mr. Willie Chestnut "Dee". I was shocked and saddened to hear of the loss of my friend. He was a true friend to me and my family and it was an honor to know such a wonderful person. My wife and I will miss his visits here and at the beach. May God continue to strengthen you during your time of sorrow. Dee will truly be missed by all of us.

It was a shock to hear of the passing of Dee. He was a very loving man with a big heart. Even though the years separated us, it was always great to see him and talk briefly. He came to my house in March to express his love and concern and make sure that I was alright. I pray that God will strengthen his family and that you will grow closer as you experience this loss as well as the other losses you have had this year. May God bless you richly.

Seeing this in writing is beginning to make this real. My family and I are devastated by the sudden loss of our father, uncle, brother, and most of all friend. My Uncle Dee was one of the most loving persons you could have ever met and he loved everyone. He believed in giving everyone a chance. We will miss you Uncle Dee and their will always be a void in our lives. We love you and thank you for your 20+ years of service in the United States Navy and thank you for loving us all. Rest in Paradise Uncle.

"Young 'Q' Butch," from UCLA, sends my deepest condolences to the entire family of my 'BRUDDA,' Retiree, after more than twenty (20) years in the US Navy, Mr. Willie James 'D' Chestnut. Aloha and rest in heaven. Mr. 'D' was a mighty man and mentor for me and his community and he will be missed. The world will never know the totality of all the people whom he helped in ways that only he and the person(s) he helped knows. I know the master has said well done. Our last speaking communication by cell phones began at 11:33 p.m. on the night of 11/24/2017, in which our conversation lasted for 22 minutes and 59 seconds. Love and blessings eternally to the entire Chestnut Family, including the family members with different last names. We will keep you in our hearts and prayers, as we have done all our lives in Bayboro and all other places we shared together and may peace continue with us.
We will never forget the many sports (basketball, football, baseball and running track) we played together at Finklea High and Loris High School.
