James P. Hanlon

CARROLLTON, Ky. - James P. Hanlon, 87, of Carrollton, Ky., died Thursday, April 3, 2014, at Green Valley Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Funeral services were held Saturday, April 5,  at Milton Baptist Church with the Rev. Ferrill Davis and the Rev. Deek Dubberly officiating. Masonic services were held at the church.
Mr. Hanlon was born Nov. 3, 1926, in Vevay, Switzerland County, Ind., to Parker B. and Margaret Darbro Hanlon. He was a member of Milton Baptist Church, American Legion Post No. 41 in Carrollton, he was a Kentucky Colonel and a 50-year member of Milton Masonic Lodge. He retired as a tobacco buyer for American Tobacco Co. after 46 years of service. He served his country in the U.S. Army 82nd Airborne Signal Co. in World War II.
He is survived by a daughter, Mary Hanlon of Milton; a son, Larry (Elaine) Hanlon of Richmond, Va.; his companion, Barbara Gosman of Milton; two half-sisters, Sue McAlister of Carrollton, and Latina Butters of Milton; a half-brother, Tommy Hanlon of Radcliff, Ky.; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Pearl Imogene Anderson Hanlon.
