Judith "Judy" A. Butler Bray, 82, of Madison, Indiana entered this life on September 24, 1938, in Milton, Kentucky. She was the loving daughter of the late James "J.W." and Ruth Wheeler Butler. She was raised in Trimble County and a 1957 graduate of Trimble County High School. On July 27, 1957, Judy was united in marriage to Thomas Dugan Bray at the Milton United Methodist Church. This happy union of nearly 61 years was blessed with sons, Stanley and David and a daughter, Shawna. She was a loving wife, devoted mom, sister and grandma. She enjoyed co-owning and co-operating with her sister Diane, the "Corner Cupboard" restaurant as well as catering many events. Judy was the co-owner and co-operator of K-Bee's flower shop in Milton, Kentucky. She was a faithful member of the Rivervalley Community Church in Madison. Judy taught Sunday school for many years. She resided in Madison since 1960 and enjoyed her church work, sewing, reading, cooking, watching HGTV, singing in the choir, coordinating with her sister the Prime-Timers, collecting tea pots, and spoiling her grandchildren. Judith died on Thursday, August 12, 2021, at 6:25 am at the University of Louisville Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky.
Judy will be missed by her loving sons, Stanley Bray of Madison, David Bray and his wife, Michelle of Milton; her loving daughter, Shawna Bray Birge and her husband, Terry of Madison; her loving grandchildren, Kristen Bray, (Chris), Justin Bray, Casi Bray, (Matt), Jarrett Bray, Collin Birge, Cooper Birge, Jason Birge (Jessica); her great grandchildren, Jaxton and Trenton Longville; her step-great-grandchildren, Jaymen and Rellick Birge; her step-grandchildren, Kaliegh and Cole McGinn; her loving sister, Diane Ferrell and her husband, Tom of Madison; her loving brother, Donald Butler and his wife, Linda of Clay City, Kentucky; her sister-in-law, Juanita Bray of San Antonio, Texas; her brother-in-law, William "Billy" Bray and his wife, Donna of Waddy, Kentucky; several nieces, nephews and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her father, James "J.W." Butler, died January 22, 2003; her mother, Ruth Wheeler Butler, died July 23, 2013; her beloved husband of nearly 61 years, Thomas Dugan Bray, died February 2, 2018; her brother, James "Jimmy" Butler, Sr., died October 19, 2007;  her sister, Linda S. "Lynn" Butler Murphy, died January 5, 2017; her brothers-in-law, Joe Bray, Jimmy Bray, Jerry Bray, Phillip Bray, and Clifford Dwight Murphy.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday, August 20, 2021, at 11 a.m., by Pastor Shane Brunner at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive in Madison, Indiana.  Interment will follow in the Moffett Cemetery in Milton.
Friends may visit Thursday from 4-8 p.m. and Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive in Madison, Indiana.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Jefferson County Animal Shelter or the American Cancer Society, or the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association.  Cards are available at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centres of Madison and Hanover.
