Ann was born March 18, 1951 in Spring Valley to Albert and Kay (Stenzel) Dose. She graduated from Lostant High School in 1969. Ann earned her Licensed Practical Nursing certificate after high school and later earned her Associate in Nursing degree from Illinois Valley Community College in 1991. She worked in the nursing field for over 50 years. She retired from Heritage Manor in Streator in 2016.
Ann married Robert "Bob" Thorp in October 1974 in Streator. She was blessed with her two sons, whom she cherished and adored. She later married Mark Vissering and they shared over 10 years of marriage.
After retirement, Ann moved to Robbinsdale, MN. To everyone's dismay in Minnesota, Ann continued to root for her beloved Green Bay Packers. She loyally played Publisher's Clearinghouse since 1978 and was "still waiting for the Prize patrol to award her millions." She earned many aliases throughout her life. She was "Lulu" to her Aunt Marcia, "Granny Annie" to her grandchildren, "Uber Annie" to her great nieces and nephew, "Annie Banannie" and "Ethel" to her "Lucy" (sister, Marge).
Ann wished for everyone to know she loved her family very much. Her most cherished times were spent with her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed an active and very organized lifestyle. She spent considerable time with her sister, Marge, gardening, landscaping and basically anything Margie wanted her to do.
She is survived by her sons, David (Jessica Spannbauer) Thorp of St. Louis Park, MN and John (Erin) Thorp of Streator; two grandsons, Paxon and Pryor Thorp; two granddaughters, Savannah and Madilynn Thorp; four sisters, Marjorie (Darryl) Riemenschneider, Diane (Richard) Strack, Barbara (Charlie) Diss and Virginia (Dave) Black; three brothers, Robert Does, Thomas (Vicki) Dose and Paul Dose; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
