Died: July 1, 2025 in Morris, IL
Arthur R. Janke, 80, of Marseilles, passed away on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at Arcadia Care Morris.
Funeral services will be private with Mike Scheib officiating. A celebration of life will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday July 13, at the Marseilles American Legion with military honors at 4 p.m. Seals-Campbell Funeral Home in Marseilles is entrusted with arrangements.
Arthur was born on May 4, 1945, in Chicago. He was raised by Betty and Reinhold Janke. On January 2, 1979, he married Diana Ricca of Marseilles who survives.
Art served in the U.S. Army in the Vietnam War from May 2, 1967 to December 7 1968. He was a lifetime member of the Marseilles VFW Post #5506. Art was employed by Caterpillar in Aurora for over thirty years until his retirement. He was involved in harness racing with horses for many years. He enjoyed working in his yard and gardening and being with his family.
He is survived by his wife Diana; one daughter, Melissa (Yoani Martinez) Alexander; one son, Nicholas Janke, and his stepsisters, Judy Olson and Diane Kelley.
He was preceded in death by his father, Reinhold Janke; his mother, Betty Johnson; and his stepfather, Bill Johnson.
Memorials may be directed to the family or the Marseilles Nursing Service.
