Died: August 20, 2024 in Joliet, IL.
D. Thomas Kovalik, 72, of Plainfield and formerly of Streator passed away Tuesday, August 20, 2024 at Ascension St. Joseph in Joliet.
Funeral services will be at 12:00 P.M. Friday, September 6th at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator.
Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. until 12:00 P.M. Friday, September 6th at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator.
Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park, Streator. Cremation rites have been accorded.
Born April 3, 1952 in Streator he was the son of David and Patricia (Reed) Kovalik. He married Phyllis Spivey on May 17, 1975.
He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Kovalik of Plainfield; a daughter, Amanda (Ben) Woolcock of Joliet; a son, Marty Kovalik of Manteno; granddaughters, Ella "Kai" and Kinsey Woolcock; and sisters, Tracy (Gordon) Tharp of Dallas, Texas and Cheryl Kovalik of Mesa, Arizona.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Born in Streator he grew up for a time in the Morris area. He attended Immaculate Conception Grade School in Morris. He graduated from Streator High School in the class of 1970. He attended Illinois State University where he earned his Bachelor's Degree in Business.
He worked through the years in the trucking industry. He worked as a terminal Manager for Roadway, Federal Express, Conway and Central Freight.
Tom was very active in High School athletics playing football, baseball and basketball. He was an avid golfer and played for many years in the St. Michael Golf League. He was also a member of the Plainfield Lions Club.
