David L. Paton

Died: December 12, 2025 in Streator, IL.
David L. Paton, 78, of Streator passed away Friday, December 12, 2025 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Funeral services will be at 3:00 P.M. Wednesday, December 17th at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator.
Visitation will be from 1:00 P.M. until 3:00 P.M. Wednesday, December 17th at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator.
Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park in Streator. Full military rites will be accorded by members of the Leslie G. Woods American Legion Post 217, the Veteran's of Foreign Wars Post 1492 and the Long Point American Legion Post 1217. Cremation rites have been accorded.
Born November 2, 1947 in Streator he was the son of John and Dorothy (Richards) Paton. He married Beth Breimer on August 2, 1969 in Streator.
He is survived by his wife, Beth Paton of Streator; a son, Jason (Cori) Paton of Streator; a daughter, Susie (Ryan) Hart of Cornell; grandchildren, Hanna Paton, Shannon Paton, David Paton, Josie Hart and Owen Hart; sisters, Alice (Jim) Kern of Streator and Ruth (Robert) Rowe of Elmhurst; sisters in law, Marcy Paton of Richmond, Virginia and Susan Tkach of Streator; nieces and nephews also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Richard "Dick" Paton; brother-in-law, Greg Tkach and a nephew, Lee Paton.
Born and raised in Streator he attended Streator grade schools and graduated from Streator High School in the class of 1966. He later attended Western Illinois University.
He served in the United States Army from 1968-1970. While in the service he was stationed in Germany.
He was of the Methodist faith.
Dave began working for his father with John Paton Plumbing and Heating as a youth and continued his career as a Union Plumber for many years eventually taking over the business and retiring in 2010. Through the years he belonged to the Local 81 Ottawa Union, Local 422 Joliet Union and retired with the Pipefitters Union Local 597.
He was a member of the Streator Country Club, Illinois Valley Corvette Club and the Leslie G. Woods American Legion Post 217.
Dave loved golfing, fishing, gardening, working in in his yard, loving on his dogs and helping his son in law on the farm. His true love was his family and he especially enjoyed following his grandchildren in all their activities and being their number one fan. He will be truly missed by his loving family.
