Died: June 2, 2021 in Ottawa
Eleanor S. Cravatta, 83, of Streator passed away Wednesday, June 2, 2021 at Ottawa Pavilion in Ottawa.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 A.M. Thursday at St. Michael the Archangel Church, Streator. Msgr. Philip Halfacre will officiate.
Visitation will be from 4-6 P.M. Wednesday at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator.
Burial will be in St. Stephen's Cemetery, Streator.
Born June 11, 1937 in Streator she was the daughter of Marvin and Susan (Stortz) Stearns.
She is survived by daughters, Valerie (Chris) Wahl of Streator and Julie Dooley of Fresno, California; a son, Carl (Suzanne) Cravatta of Minneola, Florida; grandchildren, Michael Cravatta, Christopher Wahl, Ciara Cravatta, Lauren Wahl, Victoria Cravatta and Aaron Cravatta; and great grandchildren, Kolton and Akira Cravatta.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Ronald Stearns.
Born and raised in Streator she attended St. Mary's Grade School and graduated from Streator High School in the class of 1955. She later graduated from St. Francis School of Nursing as a Registered Nurse.
Early in her career she was the plant nurse for Owens Illinois Glass Company. She later worked for St. Mary's Hospital as a registered nurse. She worked on the 4th floor and also in the Intensive Care Unit. She retired as the Assistant Director of Nursing. After her retirement from St. Mary's Hospital she became the Director of the Horizon House in Oglesby and finished her career working for Streator Unlimited.
