Frank Mussatto Obituary

Frank Hugo Mussatto
Born: May 1, 1946 in Ottawa, IL
Died: August 25, 2022 in Ottawa, IL
Frank Hugo Mussatto, 76, of Ottawa, formerly of Marseilles, passed away Wednesday, August 24th, 2022, with family at his side.
Memorial visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 31 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Ottawa. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church with Fr. Gary Caster officiating. Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery in Ottawa at a later date.
Frank was born May 1, 1946, in Ottawa to Edmund "Mort" and Jessie (Wilson) Mussatto. Frank graduated from Marseilles High School in 1964. In March of 1966, he was drafted by the US Army and served in Germany. On May 31, 1969, he married the love of his life, Rita Henneberry of Utica. Together they had their daughter Jackie in 1970. Frank was employed by Nabisco, then was a member of Labor Local 393, and retired from the Marseilles Lock and Dam.
Frank was a social butterfly. He found someone to talk to no matter where he went. He once found someone he knew on his trip to Hawaii. If he didn't know you, he would talk to you untill he found someone that you mutually knew.
Frank loved all sports. You could always catch him wearing the Cubs, Notre Dame, or the Bears attire. He went to spring training with his daughter Jackie the year the Cubs won the World Series. He loved watching the Marquette Crusaders play football, basketball, and baseball. Even if he didn't know players on the team, he could tell you all about them and what position they played by the end of the season. He didn't miss a single game that his granddaughter Ashley played in and was always out in the yard shooting hoops and playing catch with her. He was a member of the Ottawa American Legion Post 33, the Knights of Columbus, and the Marquette Go Club. His favorite hobby was going fishing with his buddies and Rita in Olney and Bellevue. You never had to ask him twice to play poker on the gambling machines. Each holiday he would come with his quarters to beat everyone in left right center. He was blessed to have met his first great-grandson who lit up his whole world.
He is survived by his wife, Rita; his daughter, Jackie (Mike) Etscheid; his granddaughter, Ashley (Karson) Smith; his great-grandson, Holden; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Edmund Mussatto; his mother, Jessie Ritter; his step-father, Melvin Ritter; his brother, Edmund Mussatto; and his sister, Cathy Cosmutto.
