Gloria D. (Dancey) Stokke, 87, of Ottawa, quietly passed away on Friday, September 23, 2022 at Park Pointe Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.
Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, September 27, 2022 at the Mueller Funeral Home in Ottawa with Rev. Duane Kaufman, officiating. Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
Gloria was born on February 22, 1935 in Gary, Indiana to Frances and Billie (Harmon) Dancey. She married Lowell Stokke, the love of her life, on April 10, 1953 in Gary, Indiana. They were married for 68 years. Together they raised their children in Hebron, IN. They spent 24 years after retiring traveling and spending winters in Gulf Shores, AL until moving to Ottawa in April 2016.They met many friends from all walks of life. They spent the summers in Illinois to be near their children.
Gloria stayed home to raise three children and then she went to work at J.C. Penny until retirement. She loved to play bingo every week. She also loved family gatherings and going to watch her grandchildren play sports. She loved to sit in the sun and read or talk to her neighbors. She and Lowell loved traveling and went to places all over the country in their RV visiting friends, family, or just site seeing.
She is survived by her two children, Mark (Kathy) Stokke, of Minooka, Donna (Larry) Terpstra, of Ottawa; six grandchildren, Kristopher Stokke, Melissa Larson, Tommy Stokke, Derek Terpstra, Laura Tarr, Holly Serena; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frances and Billie; her husband, Lowell on June 16, 2021; her son, Wesley on February 7, 2022; two brothers, Wes and Tom Dancey.
