Harry L. Degenhart (87) of Streator passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 31, 2025, at Richard Owens Hospice Home in Peoria, Illinois. He was born on October 2, 1937, in Patoka, Indiana to Harry and Hazel Hyneman Degenhart. He was a graduate of Hazleton High School, Oakland City College, and earned a master's degree at Eastern Illinois University. He was a well-regarded teacher in Macon and Streator, Illinois for 25 years and later retired from Cargill Seed Corn Processing Company after 29 years. Harry was a secretary for the Eagles Club in Streator, Illinois. He is survived by his brother Joseph H. Degenhart (Gail) who lives in Evansville, Indiana. Harry was well known as a kind, helpful and generous friend to many people in the area.
The funeral will be held on June 21 at Winterrowd Funeral Home in Streator, IL at 2:30 pm. Visitation for friends and family will begin at 1:00 pm.
