James Wilson Boyd

James Wilson Boyd died on December 18th in Sioux City, Iowa surrounded by his family. He was born in 1941 in Alton, Illinois and raised in Streator by his parents, Lester and Marcia Wilson Boyd. He graduated Streator High School Class of 1959 and University of Iowa in1963. He married his high school sweetheart Mary Marvin and they became parents of two daughters. His life-long passion of flying began at an early age hanging out at the Streator airport and flying private planes with his father. He achieved his dream job in life as a commercial airline pilot. He retired as a Captain with United Airlines in 2001.

He was predeceased by the mother of his children Mary Errett and his parents. He is survived by his daughters Julianne and Jennifer of Sioux City, five grandchildren, one great grandchild, four nieces and nephews, his brother Ken (Carol) of Door County and Fort Myers, and sister Caroline (Gene) Daugherity of Ottawa.

Memorial services were held following cremation. Christy-Smith Funeral Home of Sioux City was in charge of arrangements. Local arrangements were through the Mueller Funeral Home.

Jenny, I just heard about your dad's passing. I'm so sorry. I always enjoyed chatting with him as he had such a wry sense of humor, was upbeat, and was knowledgeable about so many topics. He'll be missed.

He had a driving force second to none that I´ve ever known I always liked Jim called him cannonball Boyd great guy I´m glad he visited me about 78 years ago he had a driving force second to none that I´ve ever known I always liked Jim called him cannonball Boyd great guy I´m glad he visited me about 7or8 years ago His mother was my fifth grade teacher and I was in class with Jim he like the agitator did a pretty good job but he never did get the upper hand I worked with his brother Ken also and Know Caroline
