Born: January 23, 1958 in Pekin, IL
Died: June 6, 2022 in Ottawa, IL
Jay Leigh Houston, 64, of Ottawa, passed away on Monday, June 6, 2022 at his home, surrounded by family.
Services will take place at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Mueller Funeral home in Ottawa.
Jay was born on January 23, 1958 in Pekin, IL to John and Elaine (Missinger) Houston. He married Barbara Ross (Diss) on June 10, 2006 in Ottawa. Jay worked at the Exelon Nuclear LaSalle Station for 38 years, retiring in February of 2016. He was a member of the American Legion Post 33 and the Moose Lodge 960. Jay was an avid golfer and Cubs fan; he loved to travel, took many trips with his wife, and went to many casinos.
He is survived by his mother, Elaine; his wife, Barbara; six children, Rory (Missy) Foster of Cincinnati, OH, Luke (Susan) Houston of Atlanta, GA, Blaise (Kelly) Houston of Chicago, Jordan Houston of Raleigh, NC, Jeremy (Kati) Kammerer of Ottawa, and Joshua (Kimberly) Kammerer of Ottawa; 11 grandchildren, Hayden and Violet Foster, Madeline, Emily, Lincoln, and Brody Houston, and Cody, Casey, Trennon, Tannor, and Treyson Kammerer; a brother, John Houston; and two sisters, Lee Ann Reed and Mary Bittner.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Memorials may be directed to the Cardinal Bernadine Cancer Center in Loyola.
