Jean Frances Weber
Born: September 12, 1927 in Streator, IL
Died: May 26, 2022 in Superior, WI
Jean Frances Weber, Superior, former longtime resident of Streator, IL., died unexpectedly on May 26, 2022, at the Villa Marina Rehab Center in Superior.
Prior to her recent hospitalization and rehab, she resided in Billings Park, where she actively enjoyed spending time with family, neighbors, and friends. She loved the four seasons, being outdoors, nature, her daily driveway walks, watching wildlife and a good dessert after dinner.
Born in Streator, Illinois on September 12 - 94 years ago - Jean moved to the Twin Ports in the late 1990s following the death of her husband, the late Ronald A. Weber - a retired postmaster and veteran – just to be closer to her three adult children – all of whom worked to build Inter City Oil.
Jean loved a patriotic parade, a good Hallmark movie, chocolate, flowers and gardens and cherished time she spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and pet poodle, Bruce.
Jean spoke often of all the wonder she had seen in her lifetime and closely followed world and current events, politics, community and sports, including Chicago Bears football and her great-grandsons participating in athletics. She enjoyed music, the arts and the school programs and concerts.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edwin and Mabel Woodruff; her husband of 48 years - Ronald A. Weber; a son, Ronald E. Weber; a brother, Lt. William Woodruff; and two sisters, Shirley Galik and Maxine Calder.
Survivors include her daughters, Judy Weber and Susan Weber, both of Superior; granddaughters, Jennifer (Aaron) Hansen and Amanda (Eric) Rethwisch; great-grandchildren, Peyton and Colten Hansen and Lindsay and Lucas Rethwisch; special niece, Mary Ann Galik and many other friends and relatives.
A private Memorial service will be conducted by Gary Banker this summer, which will be followed by an outdoor "Celebration of Life."
Jean always held those who serve our nation in the highest regard. She herself, was a WWII blushing bride and Jean knew first-hand - the sacrifices of military families.
She was just seventeen when her only brother was killed at the Battle of the Bulge. Her dad served in the military as did her husband, who was a WWII veteran, who flew 39 missions in a B-17. Her only son was drafted in the 1960s and served in the trenches along the Ho Chi Mingh Trail in Viet Nam.
In Honor of Jean's patriotism, the family would appreciate Memorials to the Richard I. Bong Veterans Historical Center, 305 E 2nd Street, Superior, WI 54880, a place that honors "the cost" of our freedom.
She was active in many organizations throughout her life with memberships including St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Streator and Concordia Lutheran Church, Superior.
