John Fisher Dann, 58, of Utica, passed away Friday, April 14, 2023.
A gathering to celebrate John's life will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, April 23 at Prairie Fox Books in Ottawa. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery in Marseilles. Seals-Campbell Funeral Home in Marseilles was entrusted with arrangements.
John was born on April 15, 1964, in Ottawa, to Gerald and Jean (Laatz) Fisher.
He attended Marseilles Elementary School, Upwey High School, and Marquette High School. He graduated from University of Illinois of Chicago with a Bachelor of Arts. He was a former MarComm Director. He was employed as a graphic designer at Philips. He was a former Senior Vice President at Seabury and Smith. He owned and operated City Folk Urban Décor in Ottawa, IL.
He is survived by his aunt, Shirley Laatz; a half-sister, Patty Howard Smith; his nephew, Joshua Howard; his father-in-law, Ronald Sharlach; his sisters-in-law, Duffy Lieber and Tracy (Brad) Esterman; a brother-in-law, Stephen Sharlach; and nieces and nephews, Sam, Philip, and Lindsay Esterman, Issac Sharlach, and Alana Riklin.
He was preceded in death by his partner of over twenty years, Zvi Fisher Dann; his father, Gerald Fisher; his mother, Jean Fisher Waite; his step-father, Burton Waite; his uncle, Merwyn Laatz; his aunt and uncle, JoAnn (Arthur) Hustis; a cousin, Roger Hustis; his mother-in-law, Judi Sharlach; and his adored nephew, Lex Riklin, with whom he had a special relationship.
