John Timothy Werner known as "Tim", 87, a lifelong resident in the Manville area, passed away Wednesday, November 19, 2025 at the Arc at Streator.
Tim was born on April 23, 1938 to George R. and Vera E. (Eckhart) Werner of rural Livingston County. Survivors include several loved cousins including Larry and Robert Aschinger, Linda Lueders, Sandy Hatzer, Carol Siebel, and Phillip and John Werner.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Vera; a brother, Richard "Dick" Werner; loved cousins, Jack and Judy Heiken, and Vince and Luceille Werner.
Tim cared immensely in preserving the Werner farm heritage dating back to 1846 when his great great grandfather Johann Frederick Werner immigrated from Germany and settled in Livingston County. Phillip Werner currently farms this land.
Tim was a graduate of the Olivet Nazarene College. He was an avid sports enthusiast and followed the White Sox baseball team with passion. Tim could easily recite statistics from the many baseball books he read. Tim was an avid reader as well. Tim would annotate comments in the margins of the books he read and when he finished reading, they became presents at Christmas.
Tim loved attending the Werner holiday meals, where all reflected on the year's happenings. Tim had a special relationship with Vince Werner. Vince and Tim often traveled together where Tim really didn't know where he was going to end up.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 PM Sunday, November 30, 2025 at Hagi & Schultz Funeral Home, Streator. John Werner will lead the service. The funeral services will be livestreamed at www.hagischultzfh.com. Visitation will precede the service on Sunday starting at 12:30 PM. Tim's family will serve as pallbearers. Interment will be in Clayton Township Cemetery, Rural Benson.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.

I was a good friend of the family for over 60 years, Vera and George and Tim were a big influence on me growing up, I would eat lunch with the family every Saturday for 10 years growing up, and talked a lot of baseball. I have many very good memories from hating time and appreciate everything this Werner family did for me. Rest in peace Tim
