Joseph Davey Obituary

Joseph James Davey
Born: February 21, 1982 in Ottawa, IL
Died: June 4, 2022 in Sugar Land, TX
Joseph James Davey, 40, died unexpectedly in his sleep on Saturday morning June 4, 2022 in his current home located in Sugar Land, Texas. Born on February 21, 1982 to Mike and Barb Davey in Ottawa, Illinois. In his early years of life, he attended Lincoln Elementary, Wallace Grade School, and graduated in the class of 2000 at Ottawa Township High School. He would continue to study at Depaul University in Chicago.
Throughout his elementary and high school career, he excelled and was an All-Star baseball player and swimmer alongside his older brother Wes. Ultimately this competitive nature would push Joe's passion to crossfit, hunt, fish, travel, and in his recent years became an avid golfer. He also loved traveling far and wide, and always bragged about watching his nieces and nephews play sports.
In pursuit of his passion for sales, competition, and success, he founded a hospitality and hotel design company Midwest Hospitality & Procurement in 2013. He operated this out of Yorkville, IL with an importance of being close to his family in the area.
Over 6 years he successfully operated this business and was able to sell it in 2018 and had achieved his ultimate success of being his own boss.
In 2019, Joe moved to Texas to pursue a new region of work and start a new chapter in life. Throughout his short time in Texas, he made many friends and enjoyed golfing at Sugar Creek Country Club.
He was lucky enough to meet the love of his life Jennifer Marusik-Cummins. Joe and Jennifer were engaged in October of 2021 and were set to tie the knot on June 11, 2022 and start a new family with Jennifer and her 2 children Gracie and Max who he loved dearly.
Joey's heart, humor, and smile is the memory that will shine brightest. He was always there for a laugh and never hesitated to help a friend in need. Whether Joe was in a crowded room of strangers or in a foreign land,
he would immediately make wide and vast friendships. His love for people made him a successful salesman throughout his career and his love for relationships gave him true riches in life. Many say that it was his indelible laugh, kind words, and pure love for everyone around him that will leave an everlasting impact in their life.
As a son, brother, uncle, fiancé, and friend Joey lived life to the fullest and brought joy to those around him always. He will be dearly missed and celebrated in the years to come that he should have been laughing with us on this earth. From Heaven above Joe would welcome each and everyone who reads this to raise a glass to him along with the loudest most memorable laugh you could ever hear.
Joe is survived by his parents Mike and Barb (Kuzmich) Davey, brothers Wes (Shianna)and Brian (Emily Light) Davey, nephew Keagan Davey, nieces Karson and Zoe Davey, fiance Jennifer Cummins and her children Gracie and Max, plus many other extended family of the Davey, Kuzmich, Purcell, Townsend and Gaines Family.
A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, June 9 from 5-8 pm at Imperial Lofts in Sugar Land, TX and Saturday, July 9 from 1-5pm at Mike & Denise's Pizzeria and Pub in Yorkville, IL.

Dear Barb, Mike and Joe´s entire extended family! We were so saddened to hear of Joe´s passing...but will always remember him as the fun loving little neighbor boy who would come over and ask Steven to be their quarterback in the yard! We didn´t have children yet...and he showed us how much fun and love a child brings! Gone way too early, but we will always remember Joey fondly and with much love! God bless!

I always enjoyed my time with Joe over the years growing up and shared many laughs and many great times. I sent a few messages here and there the last few years but wish we could have talked more often and kept in touch better. You will be missed brother. Glad I had the chance to grow up with you and we sure learned a lot together.... mostly the hard way. Love ya Joe
