Died: September 27, 2025 in Sandwich, IL
Kathleen Petersen, 72, of Serena, passed away Saturday, September 27, 2025 at Sandwich Nursing and Rehab.
A visitation will be held on Friday, October 3, from 2:00pm until 4:00pm at Ottawa Funeral Home. A prayer service will follow at 4:00pm. Burial will be in Oakwood Memorial Park at a later date.
Kathleen was born February 14, 1953, in Ottawa, IL to William and Elaine (Jessen) Green. She married Emil "Pete" Petersen II on February 17, 1976 at Freedom Lutheran Church.
Kathleen worked in medical records for 30 years at the hospital in Ottawa. In her free time, she loved nature and taking photographs on their property by the river, especially during the fall, her favorite season. She enjoyed decorating the house and was frequently the host of the family parties. She enjoyed going to garage sales and was an avid Chicago Cubs fan and an even bigger Chicago Bears fan.
She is survived by her husband, Pete; her children, Matthew and Mallory Petersen; and her siblings, Terry (Pam) Green, Donald Green, Sue McMichael, and Debbie Schunkie.
She is preceded in death by her parents, William and Elaine; her infant son, Emil III; and her brother, Billy Green.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the family to be distributed to charities that were important to Kathleen.

I loved both of my "Kathy Petersen´s" who lived within a mile of each other. Pete´s wife Kathy was always a joy to visit & share morning coffee with when I lived in Sheridan years ago. I am so saddened to hear of Kathy´s passing.
