Kathy C. Mendell, 71, of Ottawa, passed away on Wednesday, May 7, 2025 at OSF St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Ottawa.
Memorial Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 14, 2025 at the Mueller Funeral Home in Ottawa, with Rev. Sherry Stevenson of Crossbridge Community Church, officiating. Visitation will be from one hour prior to the service on Wednesday, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Oakwood Memorial Park.
Kathy was born on May 21, 1953 in Canton, IL to Carlyle and Nancy (Clark) Bird. She married Glenn R. Mendell on November 18, 1973 at the Princeville Presbyterian Church. Kathy worked as a beautician for 16 years and as a dental office receptionist for 10. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, crafting, cooking, boating, and taking care of her four grandchildren. Kathy was a light in this world and will forever be missed.
She is survived by her husband, Glenn; two children, Alisa "Lisa" (Ryan) Woods and Sara (William) Troccoli; four grandchildren, Caitlyn and Madelyn Woods and Hadlee and Grayson Troccoli; and a brother James Bird.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Daniel Bird; and a sister, Linda Johnston.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
