Loren Corell Obituary

Loren S. Corell
Born: December 9, 1935
Died: July 7, 2021
Loren S. Corell Jr., 85, passed away Wednesday, July 7, at his home in Ballwin, Missouri.
Visitation will also be held from 10:00 AM-Noon Wednesday at Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator followed by graveside services at St. Stephen's Cemetery with full military rites will be accorded by members of American Legion Post 217 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1492.
He is survived by his wife and soul-mate, Sharon (Liptak) Corell; daughters Judy (Jim) Stumpf of St. Charles, Missouri, Linda (Steve Farlow) Corell of San Francisco, and Lori Grassman of Denton, Texas; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law Kay (Jack) Corell of Omaha, Nebraska, and Janine (Joseph) Petric of Morris, Illinois; brothers-in-law David (Diane) Liptak of Bloomington, Illinois, and Brian (Angie) Liptak of Wauconda, Illinois; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Loren S. Corell, Sr., and Frieda (Janke) Hoge, brother Jack Corell of Omaha, Nebraska, and sisters Barb Alderson of Salem, Oregon, and Donna Mackey of Bolivar, Missouri.
Loren served as a corpsman in the U.S. Navy from 1953 to 1955, assigned to Camp Pendleton, California. He was a member of St. Clare of Assisi Church where he sang in the church's former choir for 12 years.
A lifelong artist, Loren ran his own graphic design and fine art studio for nearly 60 years. He sold his paintings in various galleries and at art fairs throughout the Midwest. People from La Jolla, California, to Danbury, Connecticut, currently enjoy his work. Loren lived to paint. He spent time in his studio every day until his declining health prevented him from continuing in late 2020.
Loren was a great storyteller and friend to everyone. His smile will be missed.
Memorials may be made to Masterworks Chorale, PO Box 8374, Belleville, Illinois, 62222; Immaculate Conception School, 505 E. North Street, Morris, Illinois, 60450; Greater St. Louis Honor Flight, 8050 Watson Road, Ste. 240, St. Louis, Missouri, 63119; or another preferred charity.

Loren, my friend to all, you are loved and you will not only live on in your eternal heavenly home but also in my heart and memory, and my entire family. Your art work adorns the walls of every member of our family as witness to your friendship, talent and love of the arts!

Sharon, you my dear friend are equally loved as much as our best friend as you are “family” to all of us with whom you share your life, love and laughter! Our family will always will be here to love you and support you.

I know my beloved Marilyn was among the first in line to receive you Loren to your new life with God and all His heavenly souls. What a joy knowing you have been rewarded for your faith filled example of giving me these many years of friendship and company, your infectious smile and your constant laughter. I know you live among the angels singing God’s praise in Heaven just as you did here in this earthly life.

Love, Craig Missel

We always enjoyed helping out at the community playhouse with both you and Loren as well as the dinners afterwards. It was also great to visit with both of you when you came back to Omaha for the craft shows. We will always remember Loren’s interesting paintings, especially his self portrait of the clown.
You have our deepest sympathy.

Loren was an Inspiration to every life he touched. He defined the meaning of the word "Artist." I was blessed to have been in his company.

God blessed me with the best brother-in-law. He was the perfect husband for you, Sharon, and a caring father for his lovely daughters. I will treasure my memories of him. I will think of him every time I look at his paintings hanging on our walls, and I will be forever grateful that God let me be with him and all of you as He gently led him to his eternal home.
With love and prayers always,
Janine

It's hard to say goodbye to those we love. I already miss Loren just as I have missed Jack. Both were my inspiration, friends, cousins and mentors. Sharon, Linda, and Judy - I would like to propose a toast to Team Corell.
