Died: May 16, 2023 in Galesburg , IL
Mark Allen Reed passed away on Tuesday, May 16, 2023 at St. Mary's Hospital in Galesburg, Illinois surrounded by his family. Cremation rites have been accorded to Watson-Thomas Funeral Home in Galesburg, Illinois. A private family celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Mark was born on July 13, 1955 to Eileen (Henderson) & Lawrence Reed in Streator, Illinois. Most of his childhood he was raised solely by his mother, Eileen, along with his brothers. He graduated in 1973 from Streator Township High School, Streator, Illinois where he played on the football team during his tenure there. He also attended Illinois Valley Community College in Oglesby, Illinois. He married Tina (Naslund) Greene on December 28, 2007. She survives.
Mark worked several places during his lifetime. Most recently, he worked as a gas line foreman for Ameren Illinois for many years in Galesburg, Illinois in which he retired from in 2022. Mark was always a joy to be around; his optimistic attitude and fun personality never knew a stranger. He loved working in his garden & spending time with his family and friends; he enjoyed traveling with, his wife, Tina, fishing with his brothers, and spending time with his grandchildren. He was an avid Chicago Cubs fan & was overjoyed when the Cubs won the World Series in 2016. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife, Tina, his sons, Donny (Jessica) Reed of Peoria, IL, Chad (Andrea) Reed of Galesburg, IL, Brant Reed of San Diego, California, his stepson, Cody (Megan) Greene of Galesburg, IL, and stepdaughter, Whitney Green (Tim Griffin) also of Galesburg, IL, 14 grandchildren, his three brothers, Kevin (Stephanie) Reed, Marty (Vicki) Reed and David (Cathy) Reed all of Streator, Illinois, his mother-in-law, Judy McGaan of Galesburg, IL, his uncle, Maurice Henderson of Streator, IL, several nieces & nephews, and many cousins.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Eileen Reed, his grandparents Cecil & Estelle Henderson, a cousin, Brad Bacha, a sister-in-law, Jamie Larkins, and several aunts & uncles. Memorials may be made to the direction of the donor's choice.

Really sorry to read this about Mark. Mark was one of the Streator guys liked by everyone. Spent many days driving to IVCC with Mark and we shared lots of laughs. And a few beers. ha ha. He sounded like a great family guy. RIP friend.
