Michael Marvin Korter, 82, of Manlius, NY, formerly of Oglesby, passed away Wednesday, September 7, 2022, at the VA Hospital in Syracuse, NY.
A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, September 16, 2022, from 4 to 7:00 PM at the Prey-Mueller Funeral Home, Oglesby. Private burial will be in St. Vincent's Cemetery, LaSalle.
Mr. Korter was born May 7, 1940, to Michael and Ruth (Kilmartin) Korter. He graduated from St. Bede Academy (1958), Illinois Valley Community College (1967) and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Illinois State University (1979). He served in the U.S. Army, stationed at Kagnew Station in Ethiopia and was honorably discharged September 9, 1965. Michael married Sandra Jean Cavaletto on July 7, 1970, in Spring Valley. She passed away May 30, 2008. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and was a star baseball player and bowler. He loved buying and selling antiques and reading Western novels.
He is survived by a son, Timothy (Mary Boyden) Korter of Manlius, NY; a grandchild, and a brother, Lance Korter of Cedar Point.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Sandra.
