Died: June 3, 2022 in Streator, IL
Russell G. Scott, 89, of Streator passed away Friday, June 3, 2022 at a private care home in Streator.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:30 A.M. Thursday at St. Michael the Archangel Church, Streator.
Visitation will be from 9-11 A.M. Thursday at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator.
Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Streator. Pallbearers will be his son Mark Scott, nephew Gary Hiltabrand and grandsons, Scott, Shaun and Adam Johnson, Tyler Zachary, Jordan Scott, and Ron Ewing. Honorary pallbearers will be granddaughters Sarah Ewing, Kelly Zachary and Amanda Scott.
Born April 12, 1933 in Streator he was the son of Herschel and Beatrice (Peak) Scott. He married Delores "Jean" Bradley on August 16, 1952 at Immaculate Conception Church, Streator. She preceded him in death on January 27, 2019.
He is survived by daughters, Sandra (Art) Johnson of Streator, Jody (Bill) Zachary of Grand Ridge and Gayle (Dick) Scott-Shuma of Aurora; a son, Mark Scott of Orlando, Florida; grandchildren, Sarah (Ron) Ewing, Kelly (David Gage) Zachary, Scott (Steven Cha) Johnson, Amanda Scott, Shaun (Darcy) Johnson, Adam (Joy) Johnson, Tyler Zachary and Jordan Scott; great grandchildren, Mason, Carter, Addyson and Sydney Ewing; and Maddux and Emden Johnson; a sister, Nancy (Ron) Starkey of Normal; several nieces and nephews also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; sisters, Mildred Hiltabrand and Mae Bundy; and brothers, Donald, Charles, David and Jack Scott.
Born and raised in Streator, he attended Plumb Grade School and graduated from Streator High School in the Class of 1951.
He worked for Streator Brick Company as a laborer for 44 years. While with the Brick Company he was active with his Union even serving as the Union Rep. He was also an avid bowler in his younger days.
He was taken care of over the last few years by several caring and loving people; Kim, Tonya and lastly by Robin Turner since April of 2020. These people are truly angels on earth!!! Also a special thanks to Pat Duffield for the wonderful care she gave to him.
He was a member of the former Immaculate Conception Church and currently belonged to St. Michael the Archangel Church, Streator. He was a long-time member of the Msgr. George A. Dzuryo Knights of Columbus Council #790. Russ was very active with his class reunion committee. He was also a lifelong, die-hard Chicago Cubs fan.
Memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer's Association or the Streator Ramp builders.
