Wesly Stohr Obituary

Wesly Stohr
Born: April 24, 1945 in Ottawa, IL
Died: November 11, 2024 in Ottawa, IL
Wesly Franklin Stohr, 79, of Ottawa, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, November 11, 2024 at his home.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, November 16, from 10:00am until 12:00pm at Zion Lutheran Church, 622 W Jefferson St, Ottawa, IL 61350. A funeral ceremony will follow at 12:00noon at the church with Rev. David E. Daniel officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Memorial Park at a later date.
Wes was born April 24, 1945, in Ottawa, IL, to Elmer and Dorothy (Allen) Stohr. He married Carol Casey on June 25, 2010 at Zion Lutheran Church. She preceded him in death on September 30, 2021.
Wes worked at Caterpillar in Joliet and retired at the age of 45. He loved to travel, every year he would pack up the family in whatever vehicle they had and take long road trips out west. He also adored Christmas, it was his favorite holiday. He decorated the house and enjoyed having his whole family around. He spent as much time as he could with them. He loved keeping his family together and valued the family unit.
In his spare time, he enjoyed getting together with his friends; cooking, especially in his air fryer; watching and feeding the neighborhood birds and squirrels; and just spending time outdoors camping and fishing. He regularly volunteered at the hospital, Pleasant View, A Servant's Heart, and at Zion Lutheran Church, where he was a member. Above all, he loved the Lord. He didn't always have a strong faith, but he found the Lord and from then on, was always sharing the word of God with anyone he could.
He is survived by his daughter, Leslie (David) Stohr-Woosley; his step children, Karen (John) Collins, Chris (Tim) Harris, Cathy (Joe) Wilson, Tim (Tina) Casey and Connie (Wayne) Daugherty; his grandchildren, Samantha Murley, Nathan Murley, Joshua Stohr, Jacob Stohr, Joe Stohr, Tim Collins, Kaycee Collins, Tyler Harris, Tori Harris, Maribeth Wilson, Mikey (Jess) Wilson, Katelyn (Ryan) Wilson, Johnny (Jordan) Wilson-Holliman, Calvin (Ethan) Richardson-Wilson, Carley Baudino, Carter Baudino, Samantha Thompson, Seth Daugherty, and Sean Daugherty; his great grandchildren, Willow Jai, Gage, Bryant, Odin, Adia, Eden, Reese, William, Lucy, and Conor; and his siblings, Gloria Beard, Sheila (Jimmy) Nanouski, Dale Stohr, and Bob (Linda) Stohr.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Dorothy; his wife, Carol; his son, Wesley R. Stohr; and his siblings, Raymond Stohr, Leonard Stohr, Kenny Stohr, Ann Reynolds, and Don Stohr.
Memorials may be directed to A Servant's Heart.

Our friend, Wes, left a footprint forever in our hearts. Our tears are for his passing but rejoice that he is with Ken and Jean. May he look down on us with a smile that we had such special memories of love and laughter.
